Look, create, and discover new possibilities. The Hyde’s permanent collection and special exhibitions present new opportunities for creative learning for the whole family.

Discovery Kits

No matter when you visit The Hyde, the education department has fun learning activities for kids and their families. Discovery Kits guide visitors as they look at the art, offer creative activities, and help kids (and their guardians) discover something new. Ask the front desk for a kit.

Creative Corner

Coming this Summer! Kids of all ages will the children’s space on the lower floor of the Education Wing. Stay tuned.

School Tours

Artful Afternoons (offered during the school year)

Discover art together on Wednesday afternoons (2:30 to 4:30) with a “Look” self-guided tour followed by a “Create” activity in the Art Studio with museum educators. Each week school-aged children can learn about a new art topic and participate in a different artmaking activity. Parents and guardians are encouraged to join in the fun too!

Tours for Tots (offered during the school year)

Learn and create with your little ones on Thursday morning (10:30-11:30). Recommended for children 3 to 5, these gallery and art activities are specially-designed to encourage developing fine motor skills, visual literacy skills, and vocabulary.

Art Lab

Explore how art relates to science, technology, engineering, and math. Visit the Museum on the Second Sunday of every month (free admission day), and between 1 and 4 pm, a museum educator will provide a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics)-themed activity.
