December is 'Pay As You Wish' Month

The Hyde Collection is pleased to announce a “Pay as you Wish” program for the entire month of December. Instead of the general admission fee, The Hyde invites the public to visit the Museum and make a voluntary contribution based on their experience. Since arriving in July, Erin Coe, The Hyde’s director, has focused on translating her vision into concrete action. The “Pay as you Wish” program is an extension of her desire to make the art museum, historic home, and distinguished collection of European and American art open and accessible to the greater community.

“Our mission is to educate and engage the broadest and most inclusive audience possible,” said Coe. “The ‘Pay as you Wish’ program is about community engagement. During this holiday season, we want to give everyone the chance to experience the museum.”

The first of its kind in the region, the program is fun, flexible, and participatory - it allows visitors to tell The Hyde what they value about their museum experience. It's designed to give everyone a voice. "We're listening," added Coe. "And we want to know what you think."

"It's a wonderful time to visit," said Bill Belcher, director of external affairs. "The galleries are full. With Pulled, Pressed and Screened in the Wood Gallery; Audrey Flack in Hoopes Gallery; Discerning Color in the Rotunda; and Tarbell's The Blue Veil on loan from the de Young in San Francisco in Hyde House, there's plenty of new and exciting work to see."
