Legacy Giving

The Hyde has a tradition of philanthropy dating back to 1952. That is when
Charlotte Pruyn Hyde founded The Hyde Collection Trust, leaving her home and
its impressive contents to the community and establishing an endowment to help
secure the Museum’s future. Since then, many have chosen to include The Hyde
Collection in their financial plans - believing, as Mrs. Hyde did, that the
Museum and the cultural opportunities it provides must be sustained.
One of our Museum’s most generous benefactors, Helen Froehlich, provided major support for the Education Wing expansion in the late 1980’s and later created a substantial trust for the Museum that would stand as a legacy to her and her family. These gifts, during her lifetime and since, have enabled tremendous growth, transforming a house, its fine and decorative arts collection, and its grounds into a vibrant museum complex.
A key to our continued success is the support of our donors and friends who continue the philanthropic tradition Mrs. Froehlich so generously began. With that in mind, The Froehlich Legacy Circle was created to recognize and honor donors who thoughtfully provide or pledge gifts for The Hyde Collection’s future through bequests, trusts, life insurance, charitable gift annuities, and other special estate gifts.
Members of the Froehlich Legacy Circle understand the vital role that art plays in our community and the need to ensure creative, artistic, and educational excellence for generations yet to come. Gifts reflect personal values, commitment to community enrichment, and a belief in The Hyde’s mission and the public we serve. We invite you to make a lasting difference by providing for the future of The Hyde Collection in your financial or estate planning. Your gift, in addition to contributing to the Museum’s continuing excellence, also offers you important income and tax benefits.
Types of planned gifts include:
· Bequests in the form of cash, securities or other properties
· Gifts of life insurance and retirement benefits
