Picturing a Metropolis: New York City Unveiled

A MUST SEE for any film buff! In association with the exhibition New York, New York! The 20th Century, world-renowned film curator Bruce Posner will present a program on the restored films created in Picturing a Metropolis: New York City Unveiled. The film explores American avant-garde cinema from 1894-1941 and features dynamic images o New York City's streets, skyscrapers, and nightlife that transformed the city during the early twentieth century, including digital restoration of Charles Sheeler and Paul Strand's Manhatta (1920).
This event is the first of a series of monthly lectures (May through October 2011) at the museum and is part of a collaboration between The Hyde Collection and Art in the Public Eye's Third Thursdays Glens Falls Art Walk
